VBA Brolga week 11 – 31/8 to 7/9/18
This week has been so much fun. I have done quite a bit of work with bareback and the halter, while having the bridle on to get him used to it. I have only been walking, but this is to really get him relaxed and listening to the aids. I am really in no hurry to get the trot and canter, this will come with time, balance and relaxation.
I have just really been enjoying being around him and spending time bonding even more with him.
I am a little upset with something though. For months I have been showing him carrots of which he has had no interest in trying, he loves his plain food, not anything fancy. However, this week, his Aunty Theresa arrived to see him and say hi, the first thing he did was eat a carrot from her! Little rat bag! Today, ill try the apples and see how he goes.
Its so important to remember to enjoy our horses and just spend some quality bonding time with them. Its just the best feeling to really connect with an animal, especially the partnership you feel with your horse.
