Esther had an unexpected week off because I have been very busy and just haven’t had the time to work with her other than little pats here and there. I hadn’t planned for Esther to have a week off, as I wanted to really start knuckling down with her because Equitana is so close. Although she got a week off I think it has been really good for her, because I was able to give her a ride today (Sunday) and she was better than ever. We were able to get canter both directions in the arena and every time I asked she was more than happy to go up into canter. Although we still have work to do on our left lead canter the improvement in a week without being worked is pretty awesome.
We also had a play around with some trot poles and encountered our very first miniature, which was very scary according to Esther. I had one of my students watch me work Esther who is only 6 years old and was lucky enough to have a little ride around on her once we had finished. Glad to say Esther was perfect for her and looked like she had been doing it her whole life. We finished off with a bath because after a few storms Esther turned into a very muddy monster.
I now have dedicated time most days just for Esther so I can now really put the work into her and really start preparing her for Equitana.
Until Next Week
