Week 19

This has been another quiet week, training wise, for Scarlett. We have only managed one session through the week and this was just some ground exercises to help her think about how she is using her body and placing her feet.

I have noticed over the last couple of weeks that her habit of “leaving her hindquarters behind” and standing parked out is gradually diminishing as she learns to be more relaxed around people, (although strangers still have to be kept at a distance). This, in turn, relaxes her back more and is helping to improve her posture and strengthen her back. She still has a long way to go before she has enough soft, relaxed muscle to bear the weight of a saddle, let alone a rider. Until then, we will continue with focused groundwork to help her.

One thing she has learned to love is her meals on wheels, now she has learned the squeaky, rattling wheel does no harm.
