Nigel Anderson

Ridden Section: Professional Trainer

20 years ago, Nigel worked on a farm that had 50 wild horses in the back paddock. In his spare time, he began to break them in and became immersed in the incredible world of wild horses. 20 years later and Nigel is still passionate about horses and runs a world class breeding program on his farm.

Nigels training philosophy is:

  1. Keep it simple: 1% improvement is success!
  2. Clarity: ask a simple question, get a simple answer.
  3. Timing is everything: horses learn from the release and withdrawal of pressure
  4. Safety and responsibility is on the trainer; to prepare the horse for a lifetime of mutual co-operation.

Nigel brings an abundance of creativity to the Australian Brumby Challenge and has the resources to present high level trick performances. Nigels trick horses have performed at the Tom Quilty Gold Cup, for the King of Malaysia, Cavalcade tour, World Wildlife Fund, TV etc.

VBA Alpine Daisy

VBA Alpine Daisy is a mature, bay roan mare who was caught whilst pregnant from the Long Plain region of the Kosciuszko National Park in NSW in winter, 2014. Daisy foaled down with VBA Ruby at our Brumby Junction sanctuary and was sponsored by the Kappens whilst she lived with her herd here. Daisys foal was weaned and Daisy returned to one of our larger paddocks to build up her strength and continue to get used to life on a farm. Daisys trainer in the Australian Brumby Challenge is Nigel Anderson.
