Sandy is a Wife, Mother, Sister and Daughter who works full time at an animal health company. Her love of all things horses goes back to patting the neighbours Arabians over her Nanas back fence. It continues now to her current horses on her farmlet near Bendigo. Sandy seeks out the positive for each experience and identifies areas for self development.
Sandy enjoys the opportunity to explore and experiment with different way to achieve the desired outcome that young unhandled horses offer. Without timeframe pressures, Sandy follows each horses rhythm to achieve her desired outcomes in a way that feels right.Sandy feels that her experience training two Brumbies who she currently owns have prepared her for the Australian Brumby Challenge and is looking forwards to undertaking the challenge alongside her daughter, Grace as they provide their Brumbies with the solid knowledge and skills they need to find their forever homes.
Starbright is a rising yearling filly who was conceived in the wild and born here at our Brumby Junction sanctuary after her mother, VBA Tokay capture. Starbright grew up in a wild herd here and was weaned a month before the Australian Brumby Challenge commenced. Tokay and Starbright originate from the Long Plain region of the Kosciuszko National Park in New South Wales. Tokay has been returned to our paddocks to build up her strength and continue to get used to domestic life, thanks to the support of her sponsors, the Fisher family. Young Starbright will be trained by Sandy Varker in the Australian Brumby Challenge Yearling division.
