Tamara Janus and VBA Nugget: Week Ten
Wow! A whole 70 days into the challenge, I can’t believe we are so close to half way now.
This week I had nominated for a weekend full of Team Penning, after taking my usual competition horse out on the Saturday, I decided to take Nugget on Sunday to get him exposed to a new environment. What can I say about this horse… He dealt with speakers, rain on the undercover arena roof, tonnes of horses, people, a judge’s box that was covered in tarps and more. He went into the warm up area like he had done it a million times, so when it came turn for a run I decided to give him a go. We went in confidently and whilst he wasn’t the fastest horse around he blocked cattle, went into the herd and cut a few out and we even managed to get all 3 head in with our team mates.
A lot of people commented saying… are you sure he was wild? He is just tries so hard & wants to give everything a go, I am very proud of this little brumby 😊
The rest of the week we have been working on more obstacles, flatwork and just general riding.
On Thursday though we had another lovely visit from Fleur. This time though, after showing her what we have been up to, I offered her a ride. Nugget was his usual slow and steady self but she did manage to get a little trot out of him 😊 Introducing him to new people & riders will help him in his future whatever home he may go to after Equitana 😊
