Australian Brumby Challenge ©

This week Dynamo has experienced so many new things. On the weekend we took Dynamo for a small float trip to our local oval to practise our float training. Dynamo was extremely well behaved and walked straight onto the float when I asked her to. At the oval she had many new experiences including bikes, scooters, lots more people and dogs. She was comfortable with just being lead around and munching on the grass in the park nearby. This experience was extremely beneficial to Dynamo as having a positive first floating experience ensures that she has a positive memory about the float which will help her remain calm when she is floating throughout her whole life.

Dynamo has also learnt how to eat hard food which has been very beneficial as I have been able to give dynamo the McDowells supplements within her feed. I have noticed that Dynamo looks forward to her hard feed now and I have seen firsthand how much of a difference the McDowells products are making to her.

As usual, Dynamo and I have also worked on what we have learnt in the previous weeks to ensure that her knowledge and confidence continues to grow. She is completely comfortable with me now moving the tarp and lifting it when she is standing on it. Each day I spend time brushing Dynamo. Her yard is near our driveway and she is now use to our car moving slowly past her. I haven’t focused on training Dynamo to back up this week so I will work on this next week.

In the next week I plan to continue working with Dynamo on her float training by taking her out for a trip which is slightly further away from home as I plan to build up the amount of time which she is in the float to prepare for our long trip to Melbourne for EQUITANA.
